How do I register?

Before October 22, 2024

Go to Voter Registration page at registertovote.ca.gov

​

Are you 16 or 17 years old?

​

Pre-register to vote at registertovote.ca.gov

​

From October 22nd to November 5th, 2024

​

Eligible citizens who need to register or re-register to vote within 14 days of an election can do so at their county elections office or voting center

​

On November 5th, 2024 (Election Day)

​

Find and visit your local voting center.

Who can register?

You have the right to vote if you are

​

  • A United States citizen and a resident of California,

  • 18 years old or older on Election Day,

  • Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony, and

  • Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court

​

What can I check?

The website will show you the following:

​

  • If you are registered to vote.

  • Where you are registered to vote.

  • Your political party preference.

  • Your language preference for election materials.

  • The status of your vote-by-mail or provisional ballot.

Are you registered with "No Party Preference" but would still like to vote for a candidate in the Presidential Primary Election?  The political parties have set the following rules:

  • To vote for a Republican, Green or Peace and Freedom presidential primary candidate, you must re-register as a party member.

  • To vote for a Democratic, Libertarian or American Independent presidential primary candidate, you must request a "crossover" ballot. Go HERE to learn more.​
