Annual Members Mtg. + Forum on West Oakland and Fruitvale Communities

Annual members' business meeting will be at an outdoor community venue of The Unity Council. Immediately following the business meeting, hear Councilmember Carroll Fife and Central Legal de la Raza Executive Director Monique Berlanga in conversation about the changes in their West Oakland and Fruitvale communities.In the last 30 years Oakland's Latinx population doubled, the white population increased, African Americans decreased and Asians stayed the same. Moderated by The Oaklandside journalist Ashley McBride, Fife and Berlanga will discuss today's issues from gentrification, economic development challenges, pandemic impact to how newcomers are engaged in community and in voting.
