In a new Poll: Oakland Voters Show Strong Support for Charter Reform.
63% of voters support proposal to modernize Oakland’s government and align it with best practices used in other major cities
“This poll reflects what we heard over months of deep engagement with Oakland residents, community stakeholders, and city leaders,” said Ernestine Nettles, President of the League of Women Voters of Oakland. “Through public meetings, surveys and extensive interviews with current and former city officials and staff, the Working Group developed recommendations rooted in real experiences and practical challenges. We are gratified by this evidence that Oaklanders appreciate that the Working Group's recommendations could lead to a more accountable and effective system of governance.”
